Finally, cost is a large determination of whether or not some people can get the surgery.  Not everyone can afford it, as it isn't very cheap.  Laser eye surgery costs tend to vary widely within region and from doctor to doctor.  You may see an advertisement in your daily paper for super cheap laser eye surgery.  You should steer clear of surgeons like this.  If they feel that their services aren't worth much, they are likely not very good at what they do.  When it comes to your eyes, this is a very important thing to look out for.  But what is a lot of money?  This depends on your own finances.  Although it varies from town to town, the average LASIK surgery costs from $2000 to $4000.  You should avoid working with anyone that charges less than one thousand dollars.  Statistically, when it comes to laser eye surgery costs, only seven percent of all laser eye procedures cost less than one thousand dollars in 2007.  As you can see, this procedure can be pretty expensive.  That doesn’t mean you shouldn't save up for it, though.  Laser eye surgery is permanent.  Once you get it done, you will have near perfect vision.  For many people, that is well worth the money.  You should also try to find a really good surgeon so that you make sure that you get as good surgery as possible.  This may mean paying a little bit extra, but again, it will be worth it.  You should keep in mind that your healing process won't be over once you leave the eye doctor's office.  There will be a lot of restrictions on what you can and cannot do.  For instance, you can't wear makeup for two weeks after the procedure.  You also need to avoid any contact sports for four weeks.  Your doctor will give you a list of all of the things that you should avoid so that you can make sure not to make a mistake.  Now you know a little bit more about what goes into getting your laser eye surgery.  This should better help you find out if it is right for you.
